Sorella through the years

Loretta Simpson | Published on 6/3/2024

When asked to do a write up for the Sorella news letter for May, I was feeling like I didn’t have much to say. Being in a dark emotional space doesn’t lend itself to wanting to share my thoughts on much of anything.

Riding and cycling culture has consistently been my escape from the worries when life stuff gets a little rough. So needing share something about myself in written form was not high on my list of things I want to do. The thing is, it made me reflect on what a large part of my life cycling and the people that do it had on me. In particular, the Sorella community.

I can do this. I just needed to look back in my photos to see the positive impact this group had on me for the past decade and a half+.

Check out the bike. I sure made 26” wheels look even smaller than they actually were! I just returned from a cycling trip to South Africa. Every female on the trip (six) I met through Sorella. Two of us are current members. On top of that we met up with another former member who now lives back in her home country of South Africa. She somehow worked it out to be our in country tour guide. This happens time and time again that Sorella’s past and present keep the connection patent even if they move on for whatever reason. Come as you are. Wherever you are on your cycling journey there is a place for you. I want to thank those who generosity give their time and expertise to keep the club thriving. The skill set the board members and those who volunteer for various positions bring is eye opening. The amount of time taken out of their already packed schedule is significant. Thank you. I’m awed by all of it.
