This lovely 20 miles loop is a lovely introduction to the stunning Georgia mountains! We'll start the ride at the Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church on Doublegap Road (plenty of parking on Saturdays). From there it'll be a steady 6 mile climb to the top. The views are stunning and the incline is friendly at around 3% throughout. Once at the top, we'll regroup, have some snacks and catch our breath. Next up are some rollers (not to be underestimated, but mostly short and sharp!). Finally - a long descent that will keep you on your toes! Before we head down this, ride leader Saskia will provide some hints and tips, particularly for those unfamiliar with the area, terrain and length of descent.

Who is this ride for?
This is an intermediate gravel ride - this means you must be comfortable riding 2-2.5 hours (with breaks of course), willing to try new things as well as being comfortable riding by yourself. This is a NO DROP ride, however, it's a long climb and folks like to climb at their own pace so folks may be ahead of you and/or behind you. NO ONE is left behind and we will regroup at the top as well as at any intersection and key features. The aim is to allow folks to get a taste of the GA mountains in a safe, friendly environment without committing to anything overly technical or long. Ride leader Saskia will be on hand with hints and tips!

This is a women's focused ride, however, Sorella Fellas and friends are welcome by invitation. Mat will be there!

Useful info:

  • View and load the route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3177003214141488188
  • Bring plenty of snacks: don't let the distance fool you, it's a challenge, you'll want snacks. Depending on the group, this ride will take 2-3 hours
  • Bring fluid: keep an eye on the weather as to how much you need and have extra in the car for when you finish as we're not close to anything
  • Food afterwards: it'll be a bit of a drive, there's not much in the mountains, but this should be on the way home for most heading south: El Rios Mexican Cafe, 69 GA-9 S, Dawsonville, GA 30534
